Cylinder Head Overhauling

Providing the Cylinder head is correctly fitted by a competent mechanic and a high quality head gasket is used - not much can go wrong with the cylinder head itself. You need to ask yourself - what caused the damage to the head in the first place? Is the head warped beyond machining? If it is, have you found a water leak? Can you clearly see where the head gasket was leaking? Have you checked the water pump, thermostat, hoses etc? Before fitting a new cylinder head - you need to establish the initial problem, otherwise the same could happen to your newly reconditioned head, for which we wouldn't be responsible for.

We have been reconditioning engines & cylinder heads for over 50 years and in those 50 years have had very few warranty problems - so you can have peace of mind and total confidence in using us.

Z14XE Cylinder head - overhauled in our workshop

We carry out all machining and engine rebuilding in our workshop and have all the necessary tools required to do the job. First of all the heads are put through a "Hotwash" to be cleaned externally - after which they are pressure tested to check for any internal cracks. Once this has been established and there are no cracks we then strip the heads and completely clean them of all carbon deposits and engine dirt. The valves and valve seats are then machined to get a perfect seal, and a vacuum test is then carried out. The valves are then fitted with brand new oil stem seals and the camshafts (if supplied) - with new oil seals. FInally, the head is skimmed perfectly flat to a very fine finish, check the pictures.
